LEISURE: Stadium celebrates 60th anniversary

ONE of Peterborough's most famous attractions celebrated its 60th Anniversary last night.

Peterborough Greyhound Stadium celebrated in style, with a former gangster, a plumber and two page three models among the special guests at a commemorative greyhound race.

To celebrate the anniversary, the DiamondHunt.co.uk Diamond Jubilee Veterans Derby final was held, with reformed criminal Dave Courtney, boxer Nigel Benn and glamour models Jodie Marsh and Jo Guest there to watch.

The Veteran's Derby race is the biggest race for dogs nearing retirement age. The winner gets 5,000 cash, as well as a 6,000 diamond ring.

The stadium will reach a new level of fame next year, when a film Six Bend Trap is filmed there.

Alongside the celebrities at the special evening was plumber Charlie Peach, who has worked at the stadium since its early days.
